Honduras
Our mission has been serving in San Pedro Sula, Honduras since June of 2006. We named our ministry Manos Unidas en Cristo – Hands United in Christ because God showed us what many churches and denominations could do when working together. Today many pastors, churches and youth teams are part of our ministry team.
We want everyone we meet to understand how much God loves them. We believe this can happen by first meeting the needs of those we reach out to in Christ’s name. We have a soup kitchen type ministry building and also minister to two orphanages and a boys’ prison.
At Santuario de Esperanza (Sanctuary of Hope) we do some basic first aid care, supply personal hygiene products, and provide showers, a hot meal, a movie and a wonderful time of worship. We also minister to the girls of a large government run orphanage where there are often more than 100 girls. We have been allowed to do a Bible study with them every few weeks while giving them the love and encouragement these girls so desperately need. We also have a special program for the young girls there that have had babies, teaching them what God says about the importance of mothers and how we can raise Godly children.
One of the most important things we do … we hug those we meet. We almost always not ice those we meet don’t expect for anyone to care about them. When we reach out and hug them and tell them that they are important, we love the response we get. They break out in smiles. Many of the people we minister to have been treated like lepers and that first hug is a welcome surprise to them.
We’d love to have you come and serve with us. We host teams and encourage you to come and be a part of our mission here in Honduras. You could be part of one of our planned teams or you could plan a time for your church to come down as a group. It will bless you in so many ways as you bless others.
Our ministry continues to grow because of the help of people like you. To support God’s mission in Honduras - donations can be made directly to Manos Unidas en Cristo. We are a US non-profit and all support donations are tax deductible. Every dollar helps us reach out to the many very poor, homeless and orphans that we help each week.
